Job summary

Pennsylvania Institute of Technology's Practical Nursing Program seeks a qualified full-time nursing faculty member to provide didactic instruction and simulation/clinical teaching. Qualifications

  • Must be a licensed RN for at least two (2) years.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver in-person didactic, simulation, clinical, and laboratory instruction using approved syllabi.
  • Ensure compliance with accrediting and regulatory standards.
  • Foster an engaging, inclusive learning environment to promote student success.
  • Assess student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Maintain accurate records, submit grades, and enforce attendance policies.
  • Identify at-risk students and contribute to remediation and support plans.
  • Mentor and advise students through scheduled meetings and academic support.
  • Participate in curriculum development, evaluation, and program improvement.
  • Recommend textbooks, resources, and instructional materials to the Program Manager or Director.
  • Participate in committees and other assigned activities.
  • Create and update course content, exams, and assessments aligned with outcomes.
  • Use assessment data and evidence-based practices to improve courses.
  • Incorporate multiple teaching modalities to meet diverse learning needs.

Summary of Position:

Pennsylvania Institute of Technology's Practical Nursing Program is seeking qualified faculty applicants to provide full-time didactic nursing instruction within the Practical Nursing Program. Reporting to the Director of Nursing for the PN Program, the faculty member is responsible for providing subject matter expertise in accordance with approved course syllabi. The faculty member is responsible for assessing student performance and documenting all course-related activities according to program policies and procedures. Faculty members also participate in program review, course assessment, and curriculum enhancement utilizing evidence-based nursing education models and best practices.

Essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Effectively deliver in-person didactic, simulation, clinical, and laboratory instruction utilizing approved course syllabi and instructional materials.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable accrediting and regulatory agency standards and requirements.
  • Promote student success by demonstrating flexibility in teaching style and work schedule, while fostering an engaging, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assess student performance in a timely manner and provide constructive feedback to support student learning and achievement.
  • Manage the didactic learning environment by maintaining accurate records, submitting grades and required reports within established deadlines, and administering academic and attendance policies consistently.
  • Identify students who are at risk of not achieving course outcomes and provide input regarding individualized corrective action plans, remediation, and student support strategies.
  • Mentor and advise students through scheduled meetings and ongoing academic support.
  • Participate in ongoing curriculum development, evaluation, and assessment to support continuous program improvement.
  • Recommend appropriate textbooks, online resources, technology, and other instructional materials to the Program Manager or Director.
  • Participate in program and college committees and other activities as assigned.
  • Create, review, and update course content, examinations, and other assessments to ensure alignment with course and program outcomes.
  • Participate in course analysis and evaluation, using assessment data and evidence-based practices to identify opportunities for course enhancement.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with and effectively incorporate multiple teaching and learning modalities to meet diverse student learning needs.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an NLNAC approved Nursing School.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required, MSN preferred.
    • Active pursuit and current enrollment in Bachelor’s in Nursing Program with approved education plan for completion of Bachelor’s in Nursing within five years. Mentor will be assigned to the faculty member.
  • Current PA licensure as Registered Professional Nurse without restrictions.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • Completion of at least one (1) year of experience teaching courses related to registered nursing or practical nursing, or completion of a post-baccalaureate course which includes practice in teaching registered nursing or practical nursing highly preferred.
  • Minimum of Nursing experience involving direct client care or teaching experience within 2 years of employment.
  • Satisfactory criminal record check and child abuse history clearance.
  • Satisfactory immunization for rubella, rubeola, varicella and mumps, Tdap, PPD, seasonal flu vaccination and Covid-19 vaccination.
  • Completed a series of 3 (three) Hepatitis B vaccinations or waiver signed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolongedperiodssitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Sitting or standing forlong periodsof time.
  • Must be able to easily navigate multiple flights of stairs, several times per day.
