Job summary

MercyOne Des Moines is seeking an ER Tech / Patient Care Tech to support the Emergency Department. This role provides direct patient care, performs phlebotomy, EKGs, and supports staff across age groups under physician or RN direction.

Shift is 12-hour evenings (11:00 AM – 11:30 PM) with every third weekend and rotating holidays; competitive compensation and full benefits within the MercyOne system.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–2 years healthcare experience preferred.
• American Heart Association BLS certification within six weeks of hire.
• Mandatory Reporter training within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists triage nursing in patient needs, vitals, and rooming.
• Stocking and preparing the assigned team area daily.
• Assists RN with EMS arrival and patient transfers within the hospital.
• Executes room cleaning and prepares for next patient.
• Rounds hourly and addresses patient needs with the RN.
• Assists with personal hygiene and helps patients with dressing.
