Job summary

LifeLong Medical Care is seeking a Medical Assistant at the TRUST Health Center in Oakland, CA. This full-time role includes 40 hours/week with benefits and requires completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program and current CPR.

The ideal candidate provides excellent customer service to a diverse patient population and has prior medical office experience. Salary is $22 per hour, with union-backed compensation under the SEIU-UHW agreement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/equivalent and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
• Minimum of one year of experience in a community clinic or medical office setting.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and the internet.
• Current CPR from AHA approved organization.
• Ability to lift 25 pounds.
• The ideal candidate has excellent customer service skills working with diverse populations and previous medical office work experience.

Responsibilities

• Utilize an Electronic Health Record system to document patient information and health history.
• Assist in patient flow by rooming patients and managing exam room availability.
• Provide back-up for front desk duties including answering phones and cashiering.
• Perform patient discharge activities and process referrals and follow-up instructions.
• Participate in team meetings and case conferences.
• Cross-train to support financial eligibility and telephone operations.
• Prepare exam rooms and assist during examinations as needed.
• Perform basic in-clinic lab tests and phlebotomy as needed.
• Support quality improvement initiatives in line with organizational goals.
