Job summary

A leading nonprofit organization is seeking a Maintenance Worker to provide maintenance support at various properties. Responsibilities include plumbing, electrical repairs, and grounds maintenance. Candidates should have a high school diploma and at least one year of maintenance experience. This is a full-time position in Detroit, MI, with a salary range of $18.00-$23.00 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1-year related maintenance experience.
  • Must maintain a clear MVR record for driving.
  • Physical ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds regularly.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and repairs at various properties.
  • Drive a vehicle to get supplies and make deliveries.
  • Assist with grounds maintenance and snow removal.

Job Objective:

Provide maintenance support of the facility, grounds and other properties.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform general maintenance and repairs at the ARC Center, Warehouse, Thrift Stores, Quarters and other properties, involving basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC.
  • Accompany vendors as need to various locations.
  • Maintain all floor surfaces as needed.
  • Assist with set up and tear down of rooms for both operations and program: store fixtures, furniture, displays, room setups etc.
  • Grounds maintenance (mowing, landscaping, etc.) and snow removal at ARC managed properties.
  • Assist with moving furniture, boxes, etc.
  • Drive a vehicle to get supplies and make deliveries.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This job has no supervisory duties. Certificates, Licenses,

Registrations:

Valid driver’s license required and ability to pass MVR. Travel: Valid driver’s license required and ability to pass MVR. Will be expected to travel to all locally owned/leased Salvation Army properties daily, weekly, & monthly based on need.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a typical office/store/warehouse environment. The environment will depend on job location.
