APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Penn State is searching for a full time Maintenance Worker, Utility (Behrend) - Grade 9 to join the team. Duties include:
  • Operate various types of scrubbing, buffing, and shampooing equipment, such as scrubbing machine, vacuum, wet-dry pick-up machine, etc.
  • And hand tools, as required; sweep, scrub, strip, seal, wax and shampoo various types of floors and floor coverings and furniture
  • Remove, replace incandescent bulbs, fluorescent tubes and starters, shades and covers(all from permanent fixtures), venetian and roller blinds, window screens, wall hangings, etc.
  • Remove accumulated waste and debris from buildings, as required
  • Remove, move, and/or relocate furniture, equipment, supplies and construction materials; unload incoming materials and move to storage locations
  • Wash windows, wall sections, floor to ceiling, ceilings, venetian and roller blinds, light fixtures, window screens, etc.
  • Assist in set-up and clean-up of chairs, tables, stages, platforms, bleachers, lecterns, etc. , at various campus locations for banquets, plays, and other scheduled events
  • Remove debris from walks and driveways; rake and remove leaves; pick up paper and other debris
  • Operate motor vehicle to transport materials, equipment and personnel between building work sites
  • Maintain tools, equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition; report unusual conditions to supervisor
  • Shovel snow and chop ice; spread cinders, sand and other anti-skid materials on walks and driveways using small power and/or hand tools, as required

Work Schedule:3:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.

Days Off:Saturday, Sunday

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. Penn State does not sponsor or take over sponsorship of a staff employment Visa. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.
