Job summary

Washington Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a Laundry Worker 1 at the Washington Veterans Home in Port Orchard. This full-time, permanent role involves providing linen and resident laundry services with a 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. shift, Monday through Friday, on-site.

You will operate laundry equipment, sort and distribute textiles, and maintain a clean work area while supporting a respectful care environment for Veterans and residents.

Qualifications

• Must be proficient in the English language.
• Must successfully complete training in laundry operations within six months of employment.
• Must maintain regular and reliable attendance and be willing to work as needed.
• Agency competencies: take action to learn and meet the needs of others.

Responsibilities

• Operate washing machines, dryers, marking machines, and presses.
• Weigh, shake, and sort all soiled linen daily.
• Clean and disinfect laundry carts daily.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Report problems or malfunctions of laundry equipment to supervisor.
• Dry, hang, fold, and sort personal clothing for distribution.
• Deliver materials to ancillary departments.
• Assist in training new staff on equipment and tasks.
