Job summary

Blinn College District is seeking a Full Time Instructor of Economics at the Brenham Campus. The instructor will deliver economics courses, maintain LMS-based instruction, and engage students through office hours and timely feedback.

Responsibilities include developing syllabi, administering assessments, advising students, and maintaining professional standards within the Academic Affairs division. Target hire date is January 4, 2027, with on-campus duties Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in Economics (or a Master’s with at least 18 graduate credits in Economics).
• Commitment to student engagement, success, and instructional excellence.
• Ability to use the LMS and instructional technologies to support learning.

Responsibilities

Full Time Instructor - Economics

The Blinn College District is searching for a Full Time Instructor - Economics at our Brenham Campus.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities are listed below:

• Provides instruction for courses at a variety of times and locations
• Demonstrates a commitment to student engagement, student success, and instructional excellence.
• Embrace a student-centered teaching approach which places students’ learning, needs, experiences, engagement, and success at the center of the educational process, to ensure students are successful.
• Maintains access to students through posted office hours and electronic communication.
• Use the College’s learning management system to deliver instruction, provide timely feedback to students on assignments, house and report grades, and assessments.
• Prepares and utilizes a course syllabus and assessments for each course using guidelines established by the institution.
• Maintains current knowledge of effective teaching methodologies and utilizes a variety of instructional delivery methods, classroom media, and educational resources.
• Advises students in academic matters.
• Evaluates students' performance through a variety of means to measure progress and keep them informed in a timely manner.
• Assist in the development, distribution, collection, analysis and continuous improvement activities of assessments for courses and program objectives.
• Provides recommendations to the Academic Dean, Assistant Dean, Department Heads, and Curriculum Resource Team regarding curriculum,
• Demonstrates a positive and professional relationship with students, colleagues, college administration, and the community.
• Submits final grades, census attendance reports, and all other required data according to the College’s deadlines.
• Submits timely college reports and forms to the appropriatedivisions/departments.
• Exhibits a commitment to lifelong learning through participation in professional development activities.
• Possesses a passion for teaching community college students.
• Demonstrates effective communication skills, both written and orally.
• Attends college orientation and required institutional meetings.
• Responsible for other related duties as assigned.

Job Summary

To perform the day-to-day operations of the Economics instructional programat the assigned campuses.

Minimum Qualifications / Required Degree, License or Certifications

Master’s degree or higher in Economics or a Master’s degreeor higher with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Economics.

Minimum Competencies

• Deliverinstruction aligned with approved course learning outcomes andinstitutional standards.
• Developand administer appropriate assessments (e.g., problem sets, exams, appliedassignments) and provide timely, constructive feedback.
• Usethe institution’s learning management system (LMS) D2L and requiredinstructional technologies to support student learning.
• Maintaina professional, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
• Adhereto institutional policies, academic integrity standards, and ethicalteaching practices.
• Demonstratereliability, preparedness, and effective communication in fulfillinginstructional responsibilities.

Preferred Competencies

• College-levelteaching experience teaching introductory economics courses.

Special Notes To Applicants

This is a 40 hours on-campus position. Normal work hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.

This is a 9 month,benefits eligible position. Blinn College pays 100% of health insurance forfull time employees, 50% for dependents, and two times your annual salary inlife insurance benefits.
