We are seeking a full-time, on-campus Building Substitute Teacher to keep learning moving every day, in every grade from kindergarten through 8th grade. You will be the first call when a teacher is out, stepping into any classroom at a moment's notice and protecting instructional time so students never lose a day of learning.
On days when no coverage is needed, you will be an essential member of our team: supporting teachers in classrooms, helping administrators with schoolwide initiatives, and lending a hand wherever students and staff need it most. This role is ideal for a flexible, warm, and dependable educator who loves variety and wants to know every student on campus by name.
Position type: Full-time, on campus, school year
Key Responsibilities
Classroom Coverage (first priority)
- Be on campus and ready to cover any K–8 class, for a single period or a full day, often with little notice.
- Follow teacher sub plans faithfully so instruction begins promptly and instructional time stays protected and purposeful.
- Maintain the routines, procedures, and behavior expectations students already know, so every classroom feels consistent and safe.
- Actively supervise students at all times, including transitions, recess, lunch, and dismissal.
- Model derech eretz and build positive, respectful relationships with students across every grade.
- Leave clear, professional notes for the classroom teacher about what was covered, student progress, and anything that needs follow-up.
- Address behavior concerns promptly and consistently, and loop in administration through appropriate channels when needed.
Schoolwide Support (when no coverage is needed)
- Push into classrooms to support small groups, individual students, or teacher-led intervention.
- Assist teachers with preparing materials, organizing classrooms, and setting up for lessons or events.
- Help administrators with schoolwide initiatives, assessments, events, and special programs.
- Support arrival, dismissal, lunch, and recess supervision.
- Assist the front office and administrative team with projects as assigned.
- Step in wherever the school needs an extra set of skilled, caring hands.
Partnership & Professionalism
- Implement shared schoolwide practices so students and families experience "one Yavneh" no matter who is teaching.
- Maintain confidentiality and communicate through appropriate channels.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and coaching conversations as part of our growth-centered culture.
