Job summary

Yavneh Hebrew Academy on-campus is seeking a full-time Building Substitute Teacher to keep learning moving every day across kindergarten through eighth grade. You will be the first call when a teacher is out, stepping into any classroom on short notice and protecting instructional time so students never miss a day of learning.

When coverage isn't needed, you will support teachers, assist with schoolwide initiatives, and lend a hand wherever students and staff need help.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Experience with children in a K–8 school setting (teaching, substitute teaching, or classroom support).
• Strong classroom management skills and the ability to quickly establish a calm, structured environment.
• Ability to pass a background check and meet California school employment requirements.
• Comfort teaching across grade levels and subjects, from kindergarten through middle school.
• Reliability, punctuality, and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Be on campus ready to cover any K–8 class on short notice.
• Follow sub plans to begin instruction promptly.
• Maintain routines, procedures, and behavior expectations for consistency.
• Supervise transitions, recess, lunch, and dismissal.
• Leave clear notes for the classroom teacher about coverage and progress.
• Support teachers and administrators with schoolwide initiatives.
• Participate in staff meetings and professional development.
