Job summary

Alternative Family Services is seeking a dedicated Support Counselor to work in the San Leandro, CA area. You will support children and foster families, provide interventions and transport clients to appointments in a community setting.

This full-time role requires CPR/First Aid, a CA driver’s license, and strong English writing and verbal communication skills. You’ll engage with a multidisciplinary team to promote safety and well-being in the Bay Area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a social science related field.
• Background clearances required.
• CPR/First Aid certification.
• Valid CA driver’s license with insurance.
• Able to read and write fluently in English.
• Able to interact calmly and professionally with clients.

Responsibilities

• Provide support services to child and foster family per treatment philosophy.
• Deliver interventions such as coaching, mentoring, skill-building and tutoring.
• Provide emergency response; some evenings/weekends may be required.
• Transport children to appointments in a safe vehicle.
• Submit documentation of visitations to CPS workers.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and punctuality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
