Job summary

Commonwealth Senior Living in Williamsburg, VA is seeking a full-time Housekeeper to maintain a clean, safe environment in all areas of the community. The role includes rotating weekend shifts and a steady 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

schedule, with pay in the range of $15.50 to $17.00 per hour. Responsibilities include daily cleaning tasks, carpet and floor care, room sanitation, and assisting in setup of common areas, while following safety procedures and reporting any needed repairs to management.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
• High school graduate or equivalent credentials preferred.
• Minimum of one year of housekeeping experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day housekeeping functions with established procedures as assigned.
• Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.
• Clean floors, to include sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing and disinfecting.
• Clean carpets, to include vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting.
• Clean and polish furnishings in hallways, stairways and elevators.
• Clean resident rooms, including vacuuming, mopping, dusting, disinfecting and sanitizing bathrooms, mirrors, and pictures.
• Collect all trash from rooms, offices, lounges, and bathrooms daily.
• Clean walls, windows and baseboards and keep surfaces clean and smudge-free.
• Assist in setting up dining room, activity room and living room as necessary.
• Report any needed repairs to maintenance personnel or Executive Director.
• Keep housekeeping equipment, storage areas, janitor’s closets, and carts clean and organized.
• Respond to residents’ needs as requested.
• Launder community linens as needed.
• Inform Executive Director of supply needs promptly.
• Report accidents/incidents on the day of occurrence with observations.
• Ensure cleaning schedules are followed as closely as possible.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information and property rights.
• Other duties as assigned
