Job summary

YMCA of the East Bay is seeking an Instructional Assistant for Head Start - Early Childhood Impact in the Antioch area. The position is full-time and on-site, supporting Inclusion and Mental Health Specialists to meet the needs of diverse children and families.

Responsibilities include implementing behavior support plans, documenting notes, and coordinating with Teachers, Directors, and Family Advocates. Must have AA degree or equivalent; bilingual is a plus.

Qualifications

• AA degree or equivalent coursework; bachelor’s preferred.
• 2 years of collective experience as an instructional assistant/paraprofessional in a special education/early intervention program; or as an ABA behavior technician.
• Experience working with children and families of diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Pre-employment physical exam, immunizations and TB clearance; LiveScan fingerprint and criminal record clearance.

Responsibilities

• Support neuro-diverse students in equitable access of curriculum and daily activities.
• Assist in implementing Positive Behavior Support Plans 1:1 or in small groups.
• Build rapport and trust with children and maintain a safe learning environment.
• Assess child’s needs and provide intervention strategies.
• Write daily intervention notes and collect ABC data.
• Participate in meetings, classes, and trainings for professional growth.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
