Job summary

YMCA of the Triangle seeks a Groundskeeper I to maintain and secure camp facilities, including buildings, cabins, trails, and vehicles. You will operate lawn equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and support seasonal site prep and emergency repairs as needed.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and experience in grounds or facilities maintenance, with strong communication and teamwork skills. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED preferred.
• Experience in construction, facility maintenance, vehicle maintenance, or equivalent work.
• Ability to operate maintenance equipment and lawn maintenance equipment, and perform general maintenance and general knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and light carpentry.
• Ability to read and follow oral and written directions.
• The position requires the ability to work with applications on electronic devices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
• Positive attitude and enjoying working in a team-oriented environment is essential to success.
• Multi-lingual desired but not required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a clean and safe camp facility, including main buildings, cabins, trails, grounds, storage areas, vehicles, etc. This includes both interior and exterior.
• Assists in keeping grounds clean, maintained and functional for all participants; to include operating mowers, weed eaters, clippers, etc.
• Performs all preventative maintenance required on equipment and assists with the repairing of all equipment used for grounds maintenance, as required.
• Assists in team efforts with essential seasonal site preparations, shut downs, and unplanned events such as storm damage cleanup and repair.
• Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
