Job summary

Healogics is the largest provider of advanced wound care services in the United States, treating more than 300,000 chronic wound patients annually across over 600 sites. With an aging society, obesity and diabetes on the rise, and an uptick in surgical procedures, the number of patients with non-healing wounds that would benefit from expert care is dramatically increasing. As a result, the company is working to provide our differentiated, quality outcomes to as many patients that would benefit through our outpatient clinic partnerships.

The Patient Navigator manages front office functions and is key to smooth operation of a dynamic outpatient wound care center, as well as performs general office duties to assist the staff of the WCC.

All Healogics employees must perform their responsibilities according to company policies, hospital policies, accrediting organizations, federal and state regulations, and CMS guidelines, as applicable.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities
  1. Coordinates with Center leadership to maximize daily patient census.
  2. Participates in staff meetings to support key functions within the Center.
  3. Greets patients and visitors, answers and routes calls.
  4. Maintains all patient communication needs, including scheduling, rescheduling, and appointment reminders, and works with providers according to the care continuum model.
  5. Obtains and verifies patient insurance information, including pre-certifications and pre-authorizations, and enters data into databases.
  6. Collects and enters patient charges in databases, verifies and reconciles charges, and prepares monthly patient survey data and documentation for providers.
  7. Assembles new patient charts, maintains and files existing charts, and checks charts for data completeness and signatures.
  8. Coordinates/schedules ancillary testing with hospital departments.
  9. Arranges patient transportation as needed.
  10. Maintains office and medical supplies as needed.
  11. Performs other duties as required.
Required Education, Experience, and Credentials
  1. High School Diploma or GED; Associate’s degree preferred.
  2. Minimum of 2 years office administration experience, preferably in a medical setting; prior medical coding experience preferred.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  1. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  2. Good customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  3. Strong organization and time-management skills.
  4. Ability to type 60 wpm.
  5. Basic math skills.
  6. Attention to detail.
  7. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  8. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects.
  9. Teamwork skills.
Physical Demands
  • Stationary for extended periods (4+ hours).
  • Viewing computer screens for extended periods (4+ hours).
  • Frequent keying on computers.
  • Reading, communicating, hearing, and vision requirements.
  • Lifting/moving up to 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Repetitive motions, bending, stooping, writing.
Work Environment
  • Patient care setting.
