Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a Food Service Worker 1 to support the daily well-being of our veterans. This on-site role at the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs involves preparing meals, assembling trays, and maintaining clean service spaces to ensure residents receive proper food and care.

Shifts run 6:00 AM–2:30 PM or 11:00 PM–7:30 PM with alternating weekends and holidays. Prior food service experience is preferred, and a background check will be required.

Qualifications

• Experience in food service preferred.
• Able to perform essential job functions.
• Criminal history background checks required (PA State Police, FBI).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and plate food items using proper portions.
• Set up beverages and bag items as needed.
• Assemble and check trays based on special diets and tickets.
• Sanitize dishes, equipment, floors and dining areas.
• Record food use, temperatures and meal counts.
• Assist with food or table arrangements for special events.
