Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Military and Veterans Affairs seeks a Nurse Aide to support veterans at the Southwestern Veterans' Center in Pittsburgh. You will provide hands-on personal care, assist with daily activities, maintain safety, and help create a homelike environment where residents can thrive.

The role involves 8-hour shifts across 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts, requires active Nurse Aide registration, and may include weekend work.

Qualifications

• Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.
• Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.
• This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.

Responsibilities

• Resident Support: Assist residents with daily living activities, monitor conditions, and report changes to nursing staff
• Personal Care: Help residents with bathing, grooming, transfers, toileting, feeding, and restorative activities
• Safety Practices: Apply safety devices, record vital information, and support resident mobility and monitoring
• Unit Assistance: Prepare beds, manage linens, collect specimens, maintain cleanliness, and restock supplies
• Room Maintenance: Support clean, organized resident rooms and address safety concerns with supervisors
• Resident Orientation: Assist with admissions, transfers, introductions, and organization of personal belongings
