Job summary

Oakland Schools is seeking a Full Time Floater Custodian to maintain clean, safe school facilities district-wide. Location may change day-to-day; schedule is Monday–Friday 3:00 pm–11:30 pm during the school year, with summer hours 6:30 am–3:00 pm.

40 hours/week, 52 weeks/year, starting at $18.00 per hour with single benefits. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, good moral character, the ability to learn equipment and methods used in custodial work, and the capacity to lift up

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Good moral character
• Ability to create and maintain good public relations
• Ability to understand and communicate in English
• Ability to learn equipment, materials and methods used in custodial work
• Ability to work without constant, direct supervision
• Ability to perform manual tasks such as lifting and moving a minimum of 50 lbs
• Excellent attendance record
• Successful completion of drug/fitness screening and criminal background check

Responsibilities

• Clean assigned areas as follows: Sweep and vacuum rooms and halls
• Dust rooms and lockers
• Mop bathroom floor, clean toilets and urinals and replenish paper supplies
• Clean whiteboards as necessary
• Clean doors and windows
• Clean entryways
• Report any needed repairs to custodial supervisor
• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and sanitation in his/her section
• Perform set ups and take downs for events and activities
• Clean up after night activities
• Assist with snow removal
• Perform other duties as assigned
