Job summary

Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL is seeking a full-time Emergency Department Technician. Under supervision of a Registered Nurse or Physician, you will perform vital signs, collect samples, and support patient care across shifts, including every 3rd weekend.

You may assist with EKGs, phlebotomy, wound care, discharge processes, and equipment maintenance, while upholding department policies and patient safety. Comply with guidelines and hospital values in a fast-paced ED setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• CNA or nursing school enrollment with some clinical completed.
• Medical Assistant program completion.
• EMT certificate (IDPH) or NREMT certification.
• Bachelor’s degree program enrollment in health sciences (Pre-med, biology, chemistry).
• Completion of 6 months as patient safety monitor within the ED.
• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs and perform basic assessments.
• Perform an EKG and collect blood, stool, and urine samples.
• Assist with sterile procedures and patient transport within the department.
• Support patient care tasks under RN/MD supervision and document appropriately.
• Assist in discharge planning and communication with patients and families.
• Maintain equipment, supplies, and a sterile field during procedures.
