Job summary

Southern Oklahoma Ambulance Service Inc in Ardmore/OK is seeking a full-time Basic EMT. The role involves operating an emergency medical vehicle, responding to emergencies, and transporting patients to medical facilities. Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance are offered upfront.

Pay is $14.00 per hour with overtime and additional pay incentives for degrees/experiences. Benefits include comprehensive coverage and uniform provisions. Relocation may be required within the service area.

Qualifications

• EMT certified and able to obtain Oklahoma EMS license.
• Must have clean driving record and no criminal history, able to obtain OK driver’s license.
• Candidate may be required to pass a physical fitness test.
• Preferred CPR certification.
• Relocation to the service area is preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Operate an emergency medical vehicle.
• Lift, carry and transport injured or ill persons to medical facilities.
• Provide emergency medical treatment per established protocols.
• Communicate with treatment facility personnel for instructions.
• Assess patients to determine illness or injury severity.
• Administer first-aid and maintain vehicle equipment and supplies.

Job Description

• Operates an emergency medical vehicle.
• Lifts, carries, and transports injured, sick or incapacitated persons from residential or accident scenes to medical facilities.
• Provides emergency medical treatment to injured, sick, or incapacitated persons.
• Communicates with professional medical personnel at treatment facility to obtain instructions regarding treatment and to arrange for reception at medical treatment facilities.
• Obtains information from and examines patients to determine nature, extent, or magnitude of illness or injury.
• Administers prescribed first-aid treatment at site of emergency or in the ambulance according to established medical protocols.
  
• Inspects equipped emergency vehicles; cleans equipment to ensure its safe operation; and replenishes medical supplies, fuel, and fluids.

Requirements

• Applicants must be EMT certified and able to obtain an Oklahoma EMS license.
• Applicants must have a clean driving record and no criminal history and must be able to obtain an Oklahoma Driver’s License.
• Our candidate testing includes a physical fitness test
• Preferred candidates will have a current CPR certification.
• We prefer candidates who are willing to relocate to the service area although it is not a mandatory requirement for employment.
