Job summary

Southern Oklahoma Ambulance Service in Ardmore, OK is seeking a full-time Advanced EMT to operate emergency medical vehicles, provide care, and transport patients.

The position includes 24 on/48 off rotating shifts, $17.00 per hour pay, and sign-on/relocation incentives. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance with retirement contributions. Applicants must have EMT Advanced or near Advanced Certification, CPR preferred, and a clean driving record.

Qualifications

• Must hold EMT Advanced certification or EMT Basic nearing Advanced Certification and able to obtain Oklahoma EMS license.
• Clean driving record and no criminal history; must obtain Oklahoma Driver’s License.
• Candidate testing includes a physical fitness test.
• Preferred CPR certification.
• Relocation to the service area preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Operates an emergency medical vehicle.
• Lifts, carries, and transports injured, sick or incapacitated persons from residential or accident scenes to medical facilities.
• Provides emergency medical treatment to injured, sick, or incapacitated persons.
• Communicates with professional medical personnel at treatment facility to obtain instructions regarding treatment and to arrange for reception at medical treatment facilities.
• Obtains information from and examines patients to determine nature, extent, or magnitude of illness or injury.
• Administers prescribed first-aid treatment at site of emergency or in the ambulance according to established medical protocols.
• Inspects equipped emergency vehicles; cleans equipment to ensure its safe operation; and replenishes medical supplies, fuel, and fluids.

Requirements

• Applicants must be EMT Advanced certified or an EMT Basic nearing Advanced Certification and able to obtain an Oklahoma EMS license.
• Applicants must have a clean driving record and no criminal history and must be able to obtain an Oklahoma Driver’s License.
• Our candidate testing includes a physical fitness test
• Preferred candidates will have a current CPR certification.
• We prefer candidates who are willing to relocate to the service area although it is not a mandatory requirement for employment.
