Job summary

The Arc Montgomery County is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Gaithersburg to Silver Spring. The role focuses on providing structure, safety, and meaningful engagement within the community.

Schedule is Mon-Fri, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. Earn $20.56–$21.60 per hour depending on education and experience, with eligibility for a $1,000 hiring incentive. EOE M/F/Vet/Disabled.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalency, or at least 18 with 1 year of experience.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to transport the people we support.
• Willing to drive a 12-passenger van and pass a DOT physical.
• Lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds.
• Able to stand for prolonged periods, bend, stoop, reach, pull and push.
• Must pass a 6th grade math and reading test in English as required by the Maryland Board of Nurses.

• Provide structure to help people we support stay engaged and included in their communities.
• Work independently and make decisions regarding safety, productivity, and positive outcomes.
• Support transitions across Gaithersburg to Silver Spring locations as needed.

The Arc Montgomery County’s Employment & Meaningful Day Services Division has a vacancy for a Direct Support Professional who will be responsible for supporting the people we support. The goal is to provide the necessary structure to assist the people we support to become regularly engaged and fully included in their communities. The Direct Support Professional will work independently and make effective decisions regarding all aspects of safe, productive, positive outcomes for each of the people we support. Successful candidate must be flexible and willing to work at various locations from the Gaithersburg to Silver Spring area.

Employment and Meaningful Day Services provide adults with intellectual & developmental disabilities opportunity to engage in a opportunities to gain independence and contribute to their community by obtaining and maintaining gainful employment. Our employment process includes discovering s person’s skills and interests, career counselling, resume building, developing a customized employment plan, job coaching and follow up services to ensure job stability.

Minimum Qualifications
