Job summary

Methodist Dallas Medical Center is seeking a Full-time Day Registered Respiratory Therapist to join its team. The role includes ABG, PFTs, ventilator support, oxygen and aerosol therapy, and airway maintenance, with supervision by the medical director.

A $10K sign-on bonus is offered for this Full-time Day role. Applicants must graduate from an accredited Respiratory Care Program, hold BLS and ACLS, and be NBRC registered with Texas licensure; NRP/PALS should be obtained within 1 year of hire.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support— must obtain within 1 year of hire.
• Licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including ABG, pulse oximetry, PFTs, and electrocardiograms.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation with bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview, and review of medical record.
• Uses critical thinking to determine appropriate actions.
• Interprets chest X-ray (CXR), ABG, and PFTs when reviewing patient data.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment like ventilators and oxygen analyzers.
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Cleans and maintains all cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas.
• Uses appropriate scripting to improve patient satisfaction.
• Performs other job duties as required
