Full-Time Custodian

SS Cyril & Philomena, an Independence Mission School, is currently seeking candidates for an open full-time custodian position.

Essential Functions

1. Performs routine maintenance on building interior and exterior.
2. Maintains a schedule of when maintenance has been performed and when next service is due.
3. Sweeps, dusts, arranges furniture, empties trash and pencil sharpeners, cleans chalkboards and sets up for activities. Washes walls, woodwork and windows, and cleans and polishes metal surfaces. Cleans and maintains hard and soft surface floors. Wet mops and spot cleans hard and soft surface floors.
4. Performs minor repair maintenance. Operates heating, A/C, ventilation, electrical and mechanical systems. Operations will be limited to turning equipment on/off and/or setting day/night cycles. Observes and reports needed repair of equipment, furnishings, fixtures, building and site.
5. Assists in the maintenance of lawns, landscaping, concrete and blacktop surfaces and playgrounds, including pedestrian walkways snow and ice removal.
6. Assists with set ups and tears down for school activities.
7. Operates security systems and secures building at the conclusion of shift.
8. Works a revised schedule and substitutes for other custodial staff when necessary.
9. Shares responsibility for holiday, extended day and weekend activities with other custodial staff.
10. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.
11. Hours: 9:30-5:30.

Job Requirements

1. High School Diploma or GED.
2. Previous experience as maintenance worker or custodian preferred.
3. FBI Criminal Clearance.
4. PA Child Abuse.
5. Employee History Reviews - Disclosures.
6. Arrest Conviction Report.
7. Ability to work unsupervised.
8. Demonstrated positive attitude towards people with whom one works.
9. Ability to work cooperatively and willingness to accept instructions.

Physical Demands

1. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
2. Ability to lift 75 pounds.
3. Ability to climb to high and difficult places and work at those places.
4. Constant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination.
