General Purpose
This position is responsible for performing a variety of professional and administrative duties related to planning, organizing, directing, and facilitating various initiatives, programs, projects, and opportunities aimed at uniting the community and promoting the creative economy, as well as the development of the downtown. Additionally, this position will be responsible for assisting with the Space to Create Commons facility focused on strengthening the economic vitality of Trinidad’s Historic Downtown.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Working out of the Space to Create Commons on Main Street in Trinidad, Colorado, this individual will act as the City staff liaison of Trinidad’s Main Street Board and the CREATE Trinidad Creative District.
- Employs initiatives and priorities to maintain the City’s status as a Certified Creative District and a designated Certified Main Street Community with the State of Colorado.
- Assists in managing the Space to Create commons facility.
- Provides administrative and logistical support including data collection, management, analysis and reporting to State entities; prepares development and maintenance of spreadsheets, coordinates District mapping; facilitates short-term and long-term strategic planning including identification of revenue sources and prioritizing initiatives and expenditures.
- Monitors various revenue sources and expenditures; prepares and submits grant applications relevant to the Creative District & Main Street programs; manages grant receipts to verify and assure compliance with grantor stipulations specifications and award conditions; prepares periodic financial reports identifying the disposition and utilization of grant funds.
- Establishes ongoing relationships with local, regional, and state agencies and organizations; submits quarterly reports to local and state agencies; and attends local, regional, and statewide meetings and conferences.
- Acts as the primary contact and City representative to state agencies for the DOLA Main Street program and Colorado Creative Industries Creative District programs.
- Exercises flexibility with evolving tasks and responsibilities which could include additional board assignments.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Colorado Creative Industries (a department of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade) and their statewide Creative Districts Program.
- The Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) and their Colorado Main Street Program.
- Various revenue sources available to local governments including state and federal sources and knowledge of private philanthropy for arts, culture and economic development.
- Principles of negotiation and problem solving as well.
- Data collection/analysis and ability to establish a database about pertinent City statistics and demographics.
- The use of digital media, including common social media platforms, website content management applications and blogs.

Education and Experience
Required
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Five (5) years of experience in public engagement, project coordination or business fields.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree in public engagement, project coordination, business or a closely related field.
- Experience working with volunteers, local and state agencies, and non‑profits.
Other Requirements
- Must possess a valid current state‑issued driver’s license and not be under suspension, revocation or denial nor have any prior alcohol and/or drug related driving offenses within the last five years. A driving record search will be conducted on all applicants prior to employment and will be subject to observation throughout their employment.
- Successful candidates must pass a background investigation, drug screening and physical examination in accordance with job duties prior to employment.
