Breckenridge Main Street seeks an experienced Program Coordinator to revitalize downtown, coordinate events, and manage grant-funded initiatives. You will collaborate with the City Manager and partners to promote downtown vitality, business growth, and community involvement.

Ideal candidates have an associate degree or higher and proven experience in community engagement, project management, and public relations, with strong writing and marketing skills.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher.
  • Experience in Main Street work, community engagement, economic development, project management, public relations, grant writing, or similar.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and Federal statutes, rules, ordinances, codes, and City policies.
  • Knowledge of records management and basic bookkeeping.
  • Knowledge of digital and social media marketing and graphic design.
  • Skill in assessing information and prioritizing activities.
  • Basic knowledge of historic building construction.

Responsibilities

  • Promote ongoing public awareness of downtown events and activities.
  • Foster cooperation with downtown organizations and partners.
  • Promote open communication between the City and downtown stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and enhance digital content to showcase the Main Street program.
  • Plan and execute community events, including fundraisers.
  • Coordinate participation in annual events like fall festival and Christmas parade.

Job description

OBJECTIVES
  • 1. Analyze, synthesize and develop revitalization strategies in consultation with the City Manager and appropriate partners and coordinate their implementation to achieve core goals: Revitalize Historic elements of downtown, stimulate business growth, private sector investment and create thriving marketplaces in the downtown area and build community connection.
  • 2. To develop and administer a four-pronged work plan to meet goals; focused on Promotion, Design, Organization, and Economic Restructuring.
  • 3. Research, apply and administer grant funding and coordinate Main Street Program activities, managing administrative aspects for the City of Breckenridge.
  • 4. Plan and execute one or more fundraiser(s) per year to support programmatic funding.
  • 5. Collaboration with key partners including BEDC, Breckenridge Downtown Development Council, and Chamber of Commerce to identify opportunities for business retention and expansion and cross promotion of BEDC grants and programs that support economic development in the Main Street District.
  • 6. Fostering cooperation with businesses, volunteer organizations, and other community organizations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Promote ongoing public awareness of events, activities and education programs occurring in downtown.
  • Encouraging a cooperative climate with other downtown or community organizations.
  • Promoting open communication between the City of Breckenridge and all partners and downtown stakeholders.
  • Strive to keep the program in a positive light by fostering understanding of the Main Street program, throughout the community utilizing digital, social media and creative content.
  • Coordinate and execute one or more engaging community event, serving as a fundraiser for the program.
  • Coordinate and encourage participation in regular events, including but not limited to Family Fall Festival, Christmas Parade and other community events.
Managing Administrative Aspects & Tracking Progress of Program
  • Tracks progress of the four program areas, compiles data and submits all required program reports on or before their due dates; including drafting and submitting grant requests.
  • Proactively research, apply and administer grand funding opportunitie; ensures maintenance of files, records, policies, procedures important to the efficient operations of Breckenridge Main Street.
  • Attends relevant training, workshops, and conferences to continue development of strategies which directly impact our community’s specific needs.
  • Assists City Manager in the budget planning and preparation for Main Street each year, including proposals new grant funding to ensure future growth of the program.
  • Maintains action plan and event materials for each event hosted by Breckenridge Main Street.
  • Recruitment & coordination of volunteers to carry out the goals of the program.
  • Coordinates activity of Main Street program committees.
  • Collaborates with Chamber on calendar for Downtown/Main Street events.
  • Provides excellent customer service and responds courteously and professionally by phone, mail, email, and in person to inquiries and other requests regarding events in a timely manner.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree or higher
  • Main Street related experience or experience in community engagement, economic development, project management and public relations, grant writing and/or similar experience.
  • Knowledge of applicable local, state, and Federal statutes, rules, regulations, ordinances, codes, City of Breckenridge policies and procedures and other potentially governing documents.
  • Knowledge of the principles of files and records management and of modern office principles and techniques and basic principles of bookkeeping/accounting.
  • Knowledge of digital and social media marketing, graphic design.
  • Skill in assessing information, situations and circumstances and prioritizing activities.

Basic knowledge of Historic building construction
