What you will do

As a Full Time Hospital Cook, you will play a crucial role in providing nutritious, from scratch meals for patients, visitors, and staff. Your responsibilities include preparing and cooking high-quality dishes, adhering to dietary requirements, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen. You will collaborate with the culinary team to ensure meals are served on time and meet the highest standards of taste and nutrition. The ideal candidate is experienced in scratch cooking, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering excellent food service in a healthcare setting.

  • Meal Preparation: Prepare and cook meals from scratch, following standardized recipes and dietary guidelines.
  • Ingredient Management: Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and available for meal preparation.
  • Kitchen Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment, adhering to health and safety standards.
  • Menu Planning: Collaborate with the culinary team to plan and develop nutritious and appealing menus.
  • Special Diets: Prepare meals that meet specific dietary requirements for patients with allergies, intolerances, or medical conditions.
  • Quality Control: Monitor food quality and presentation, ensuring all dishes meet the hospital's standards.
  • Inventory Management: Assist with inventory management, including ordering and stocking kitchen supplies.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with kitchen staff and other hospital departments to ensure efficient meal service.
  • Other Duties as Assigned: Assist with special projects, events, and additional tasks as needed to support the overall operations and goals of the hospital café and broader hospital community.

What you will need

  • Previous cooking experience, preferably in a healthcare or large-scale food service environment.
  • Proficiency in from-scratch cooking techniques and recipe adherence.
  • Strong understanding of dietary requirements and food safety regulations.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Basic computer skills for inventory management and menu planning.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; culinary training or certification is a plus.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to collaborate with a diverse team.
