Position Type: Nutrition Services/ Lead Cook

Description

Assist in the preparation and serving of meals for students and staff according to the National School Lunch and School Breakfast program guidelines. Ensure proper cleaning and sanitizing of kitchen facilities.

Job Summary
  1. Understand requirements of the National School Lunch Program.
  2. Prepare food according to recipes and supervisor instructions.
  3. Oversee kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Cook, with support from the Nutrition Services Manager as needed.
  4. Serve food correctly according to government requirements.
  5. Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and surfaces.
  6. Report faulty equipment to supervisor.
  7. Operate cafeteria equipment safely and properly.
  8. Complete daily food production records.
  9. Report inventory shortages.
  10. Work during special functions.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Cook or Nutrition Services Manager.
  12. Cross-train in all kitchen positions, including cashier.
  13. Operate cash register and POS system, handle monies.
  14. Manage express line operations, including ordering, inventory, setup, and cleaning.
Training and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent. Basic training in sanitation and large-volume food prep preferred. Knowledge of the National School Lunch Program is a plus. Basic computer skills required.

General Requirements
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Maturity and effective communication skills with staff, students, and parents.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to follow rules and regulations.
  • Physical stamina to lift up to 48 lbs.
  • Clearances: PA State Criminal, FBI, PA Child Abuse, and Sexual Misconduct.

Full-time, 180 days (9 months/school year). Starting salary: $15.85/hr. Full benefits, including access to Rocket Wellness Center.
