Atlantic Academy

Atlantic Academy is seeking a licensed Clinician (LCPC, LCSW, LMSW, LMFT, or Psychologist) to provide therapeutic services for at-risk youth in our Behavioral Health Day Treatment program.

Atlantic Academy is a special purpose private school that specializes in providing evidence-based programming to Maine's most vulnerable at-risk youth. Qualifications:

Education: Graduate from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or education.

License: Must hold current license/credential as required by the state of Maine, to perform professional therapy/counseling services, and within the guidelines to perform Section 65, Behavioral Health Day Treatment services (LCPC, LCSW, LMSW, LMFT, Psychologist).

Minimum Experience: At least (2) years professional clinical experience providing direct services to children and adolescents. One (1) year experience developing treatment plans and making DSM diagnoses.

Preferred Experience: Training in one of the following orientations: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavior Therapy, training in trauma-informed care. Demonstrated ability working within a day treatment setting and collaborating with Board Certified Behavior Analysts and school administration. Experience running social-emotional skills groups. Experience working with children and adolescents in crisis. Experience working with families and connecting them with community resources. Experience working within the Behavioral Health service model of MaineCare.

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Performs clinical services ordered by a student's IEP/ITP team with individual students to address remedial, personal, social, or emotional problems that interfere with their educational and social progress.
  2. Performs clinical services within the guidelines of Section 65 Behavioral Health Day Treatment services.
  3. Conducts intake assessments of new students entering Atlantic Academy by developing Comprehensive Assessment (CA).
  4. In collaboration with the treatment team, develops Individualized Treatment Plan (ITP).
  5. Conducts annual CAs and ITPs on existing students.
  6. Meets with students weekly to perform clinical services.
  7. Conducts as-needed groups to address social and emotional needs.
  8. Provides as-needed crisis intervention.
  9. Conducts quarterly reviews regarding student progress toward identified clinical goals.
  10. Develops measurable and appropriate IEP/ITP goals for student caseload; collects data on clinical goal progress; and develops progress notes after each clinical session.
  11. Performs casework service with parents as an integral part of the task of helping students, to increase the parents' understanding, their constructive participation in resolving their child's problems, and their knowledge and use of appropriate resources available.
  12. Consults and collaborates with other school personnel in gathering and giving information on a case, and in establishing and planning for respective roles in the modification of the student's behavior.
  13. Supervises the referral of students to, and serves as liaison with such outside agencies as the Department of Human Services, Department of Mental Health, and Department of Corrections, as appropriate.
  14. Makes home visits, when appropriate, for the purpose of gathering helpful information on a student's background and needs.
  15. Serves as a liaison between home and school when considerable follow-up is necessary, as in welfare cases, foster home children, and at-risk students.
  16. Prepares and submits required reports in a timely manner.
  17. Keeps records of cases for use by school administration and special education staff.
  18. Participates as an active member of the IEP team.
  19. Collaborates with treatment team to identify staff training needs.
  20. Co-supervises staff in implementing best practices for at-risk students.
