Qualifications

• Two years college (48 hours minimum) including 9 hours Mathematics and 9 hours English or an Associate degree or higher.
• Some previous experience working with children preferred.
• Pass the test stipulated by the Louisiana State Department of Education.

Responsibilities

• Discuss assigned teaching area with classroom teacher to coordinate instructional efforts.
• Assists teacher in preparing and developing teaching aids such as bibliographies, charts, and graphs.
• Assists teacher in presenting subject matter to students using various methods (lecture, discussion, supervised role-playing).
• Assists teacher in preparing, administering, and grading examinations.
• Supervises students in study areas, cafeteria, halls, playground, field trips, and bus loading/unloading areas where applicable.
• Assists students individually or in groups with lesson assignments to reinforce learning concepts.
• Performs basic office duties.
• Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
