Job summary

LIFT Community Action Agency, Inc. is seeking an Early Learning Center Cook to prepare, cook and serve meals for children and staff in the Head Start/Early Learning Center program. The role includes purchasing, inventory, paperwork, and maintaining sanitary kitchen spaces.

The position requires reading and writing in English, adherence to CACFP, and ability to work Full-Time Monday–Friday with a 7:30am–3:30pm schedule. Safety-sensitive role with emphasis on nutrition and program compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid Food Handlers Card required.
• Knowledge of proper food storage, preparation & cooking, weights & measures, safety practices.
• Basic cooking skills & experience in food service & bulk meal prep helpful.
• Ability to read and follow recipes and cycle menus.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement kitchen management systems per USDA CACFP Head Start standards.
• Cycle menu implementation per Head Start policies and CACFP guidelines.
• Procure food, manage inventory, and store food properly for on-site meals and field trips.
• Maintain CACFP paperwork and monthly reports, including meal counts and receipts.
• Post CACFP public notices and ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards.
