Job summary

The YMCA of West Bend is seeking a Child Care Teacher for the Discovery Center in West Bend, WI. Under the supervision of the Child Care Director, you will plan and implement daily activities for the center's children.

Responsibilities include following Wisconsin licensing rules, developing age-appropriate curricula, mentoring staff, ensuring a safe environment, and communicating with parents. The role also involves meal assistance and collaboration with the team to support members and families.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 18 years.
• High School Diploma or Equivalency.
• 2 years experience in Child Care preferred.
• Educational qualifications per DCF Wisconsin Licensing Rules.
• CPR/AED certification preferred; required within 30 days of hire.
• Fingerprint check required.
• Health Physical and TB test within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to interact with children at their cognitive level.

Responsibilities

• Follow DCF Wisconsin Licensing Rules for Group Child Care Centers and YMCA policies.
• Implement age-appropriate curriculum by developing lesson plans.
• Mentor assistants and volunteers.
• Maintain a safe, orderly environment including housekeeping tasks.
• Interact with children at their level and supervise for safety.
• Assist in meal/snack preparation.
• Report problems to the supervisor promptly.
• Greet and communicate with parents; positive interactions with children and families.
• Communicate with co-workers and build positive relationships with members and communities.
• Adhere to the Code of Conduct and Child Abuse Prevention handbook.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
