Job summary

State of Ohio is seeking a Vehicle Operator 2 at the Mount Vernon Developmental Center in Ohio to transport passengers and materials, operate buses and vans, and perform basic vehicle maintenance with safety reporting. This full-time role features a 40-hour work week and union representation by OCSEA.

The position requires a valid CDL, knowledge of driving rules, and the ability to inspect vehicles, complete mileage and fuel reports, and participate in training.

Qualifications

• Formal education in arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication & division; reading, writing & speaking English.
• 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. operating passenger bus or van; valid Commercial Driver License with appropriate endorsement for size & type.
• Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

Responsibilities

• Operates passenger bus (23+ passengers) to transport passengers for activities; inspects, services, & maintains vehicles; prepares mileage, fuel, and related reports.
• Completes vehicle reports; attends in-services & training; assists in training new employees in defensive driving and wheelchair tie-downs.
