Job summary

Bob Hope School in Beaumont, TX seeks a 3rd-5th Instructional Aide-Bilingual (English/Spanish) to support teachers with direct instruction and classroom activities. The role focuses on reading, writing, math support, translation, and materials preparation.

Under supervision of a certified teacher, you will assist in small groups or individual sessions, participate in parent involvement, and help maintain classroom organization and records. Immediate start.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or two years of study (60 college hours) at an institute of higher learning.
• Bilingual: English/Spanish (verbal/written).
• Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics.
• Ability to work well with children.
• Ability to remain flexible and adapt to changing demands.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction to students under direct supervision of teacher, in Spanish and/or English.
• Conduct instructional exercises and implement interventions for Newcomers/ELL students; work with individuals or small groups.
• Assist in classroom management.
• Conduct parent involvement activities.
• Provide translation between English and Spanish.
• Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist with administration and scoring of objective tests or work assignments.
• Help maintain neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory and maintenance of ELL equipment and resources.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers as needed.
• Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
• Participate in staff development and departmental meetings.
