Job summary

HOPE Clinic – Beltway is seeking a Behavioral Health Certified Medical Assistant to support psychiatric and counseling services. You will deliver coordinated care within a multidisciplinary team and provide clinical and administrative assistance while maintaining patient confidentiality.

The role requires CMA or RMA certification within 3 months, at least a high school diploma and CMA training, plus bilingual English/Spanish or other languages.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year in health education, patient navigation, mental health, and/or health clinic patient assistance field preferred.
• Completion of a CMA training program is required.
• CMA, CCMA, or RMA is required or willingness to obtain certification within 3-month probationary period.
• HIPAA privacy and confidentiality knowledge.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and able to utilize the Internet.
• Able to use basic office equipment (e.g., computer, copier).
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Detail oriented and a team player.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, complexity, and diversity of patients.
• Insurance and medical experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently with strong focus.
• Ability to work with culturally-diverse families and communities.
• Previous behavioral health care or medical assistant experience preferred.
• Work well under pressure with professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Greet and attend to patients in a therapeutic and professional manner.
• Register, make appointments, check patients in/out, and process payments with excellent customer service.
• Perform intake triage, vitals, and assist with mental health screenings.
• Document vitals, screenings, patient history, and personal information.
• Conduct urine drug screenings, blood draws, and injections per provider orders.
• Maintain organization and patient confidentiality.
• Support providers and coordinate psychotropic medication refill requests including prior authorizations.
• Provide administrative support and monitor projects.
• Manage provider schedules to ensure department productivity.
• Review referrals and route to behavioral health services; close referrals and enter data.
• Print PMP reports for psychiatric patients prior to visits.
• Coordinate translation services and liaise with schools when needed.
• Coordinate department logistics, supply restock, and equipment maintenance.
• Adhere to workflow expectations set by supervisor.
