Job summary

Sonic Automotive is seeking an Automotive Service Technician to perform vehicle repair and maintenance per dealer and factory standards. You will inspect vehicles, diagnose issues, and perform engine, brake, electrical and HVAC work, followed by test drives to verify repairs.

Requirements include 2+ years of dealership experience, own tools, valid driver's license, and ability to pass pre-employment checks. ASE certs are preferred. Full-time position with competitive hourly pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of mechanic or automotive service technician experience in a dealership or similar automotive repair setting.
• Diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of automotive systems, components, and repair procedures.
• Must have own set of tools.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• All applicants must be authorized to work in the USA.
• Pre-employment testing including background checks, MVR, drug test and valid driver license.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough inspections of vehicles to identify issues (mechanical, electrical, or diagnostic).
• Carry out repairs based on diagnosed issues (engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, electrical, HVAC).
• Take vehicles on test drives to verify repairs and ensure proper operation.
• Replace or repair components such as spark plugs, air filters, brakes, belts, and hoses.
• Conduct routine maintenance: oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks, alignment adjustments.
• Check for safety concerns and additional services needed for customer safety.
• Coordinate with parts department to procure required parts and notify if repairs cannot be completed on time.
• Save and tag parts for warranty or customer requests.
