Job summary

Seaford School District seeks a dedicated Paraeducator to support certified staff in classrooms serving students with autism. You will assist with instruction, reinforce behavior plans, and help implement lesson materials to meet educational goals.

Responsibilities include supervising students, monitoring progress on IEP goals, and providing personal care assistance when needed. You may travel between schools to support students across the district.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED is required.
60 college credits or equivalent coursework is required.
Passing of ParaPro Assessment may be required.

Responsibilities

Assist instructional personnel in education, training, and supervision of students with autism.
Apply strategies to foster independence, self-reliance and social skills.
Assist with delivery of lesson plans, presentation of learning materials, and instructional exercises.
Monitor student progress toward individual education plans and goals.
Monitor and assist individual students or small groups with autism in activities, using positive reinforcement.
Assist with various instructional materials and learning aids.
Monitor students during classroom activities, recess, and field trips.
Operate and assist students with instructional aids and media and computer-assisted instruction.
Maintain an orderly, safe, and positive learning environment.
Assist with basic personal care activities as needed (dressing, toileting, feeding, grooming).
Assist in medical emergencies and respond appropriately.
May assist students on/off the bus as needed.
Attend specialized training as required.
