An established industry player is seeking a dedicated Activities Assistant to enhance the quality of life for residents through engaging activities. In this rewarding role, you will participate in planning and conducting various activities, ensuring effective communication among staff, residents, and families. You will develop and maintain a monthly activity calendar, support quality assurance initiatives, and assist with resident assessments. Participate in planning and conducting individual, small, and large group activities. Assist in providing effective communication between employees at all levels, residents, their families, support personnel, government agencies, and the public to meet the needs and interests of residents, the community, and the facility. Engage in community planning related to the facility's interests and the needs of residents and their families.
Assist in developing the monthly activity calendar and maintaining attendance records. Support the Quality Assurance and Assessment Committee in creating and implementing plans to address identified quality deficiencies, as requested by the Activities Director. Participate in discharge planning, develop, and implement activity care plans, and conduct resident assessments.
Assist in arranging transportation for residents for outings, appointments, or discharges. Develop a monthly activity schedule that includes outings, group activities, and in-room activities for residents who are bed-bound or isolated. Encourage residents to participate in self-initiated activities such as hobbies, crafts, and reading, providing necessary materials including Braille or audio books as appropriate.
Assist with documentation, including quarterly progress notes as assigned by the Activities Director. Maintain the cleanliness, orderliness, and security of the Activity Department. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Requires standing and/or walking frequently, sitting occasionally, reaching with hands and arms frequently, and pushing/pulling very frequently. Talking and hearing are very frequent, as is tasting and smelling. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently. Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, with the ability to adjust focus.
The work environment is typically low to moderate noise. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities. Management reserves the right to reassign duties as needed.
