Job summary

The Dallastown Area School District seeks a Full-Time, 10-Month Behavior Intervention Specialist Paraprofessional for York Township Elementary School. This role supports a special education teacher in delivering services to students with IEPs and helps create pathways for student success.

Responsibilities include implementing IEP-driven instructions, assisting in development of learning materials, and performing routine clerical tasks.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED with optional assessment through special education department.
  • At least two years of postsecondary study (48 credits) proceed.
  • Associate's Degree or higher is acceptable.
  • Minimum 20 hours of staff development related to assignment each school year.
  • Candidate should be child-centered, warm and receptive to children.
  • Good oral and written communication and teamwork are expected.
  • Satisfactory attendance history.

Job description

The Dallastown Area School District seeks a Full-Time, 10-Month Behavior Intervention Specialist Paraprofessional for York Township Elementary School who will play a valuable role in inspiring and creating pathways for student success by supporting a special education teacher in the delivery of supports and services for students with IEPs.

Responsibilities
  • Able to carry out oral and written instructions including those in the student's IEP to allow access to the educational environment.
  • Assisting teachers in presentation and development of learning materials and instructional exercises
  • Performing routine clerical work
  • Working with instructional media, office machines, and equipment
Work Schedule / Pay Periods For 10-Month Positions
  • Full-day hours: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, which is 7.50 working hours and a 30-minute unpaid lunch period.
  • Your work schedule and pay will follow student attendance full and half days during the school year -- approximately 177 student days mid-August through early June. Additional days may be arranged by your supervisor.
  • While there are typically no pay periods July through August, you'll enjoy summers off to spend more time with your family!
  • For a full school year, your bi-weekly pays will typically begin by mid-September and continue through late-June.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Highly Qualified = High School Diploma (or GED equivalent) AND completion of an assessment through our special education department,
  • OR, Completed at least two years of postsecondary study (48 credit hours or more)
  • OR, Associate's Degree or higher,
  • Completion of at least 20 hours of staff development activities related to assignment each school year
  • Child-centered, warm, and receptive to children
  • Ability to carry out oral and written communications/instructions and work cooperatively with others
  • Acceptable record of attendance
