Job summary

Bain & Company is seeking a Full‑Stack Engineer for its PEG Innovation team in Chicago. You will contribute across UI and backend services using TypeScript, Node.js, and Svelte, with AWS-based deployments and a strong emphasis on test coverage and maintainable code.

The role emphasizes foundational engineering skills, collaboration with Product/Design, and hands-on experience with microservices, databases, and scalable architectures in a hybrid in‑office model.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years building web apps or backend services in production or near-production.
• Experience implementing features in TypeScript across Node.js and frontend frameworks; writing tests.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain RESTful API functionality (TypeScript) under existing schemas.
• Implement UI features in Svelte/TypeScript following design system hooks.
• Develop Node.js/FastAPI endpoints with PostgreSQL/SQLAlchemy patterns and migrations.
• Write unit/integration tests (Vitest/Jest/pytest); contribute to E2E tests (Playwright).
• Collaborate with product/design; integrate with Auth/RBAC, Audit, Notifications services.
• Assist with containerized delivery (Docker) and release support.
