Location: 3 days/week onsite in Trenton, NJ

Rate: $40-45-50-53/hr on W2 or $50-60-63/hr on C2C or 1099- MAX
We are looking for a Software Engineer – Health Enterprise Web Applications. As the Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining our health-focused enterprise web applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable, and secure solutions using Spring Boot, Java, and Python.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust enterprise web applications using Spring Boot and Java.
- Integrate Python scripts and services to enhance application functionality and performance.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define and implement application features.
- Ensure the applications meet performance, quality, and deadlines by writing clean, scalable code and performing thorough testing.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of development practices.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing software.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry best practices to drive innovation within the team.
Qualifications
Required:
- Proven experience as a Software Engineer with a strong background in Spring Boot and Java.
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., MS SQL Server).
- Familiarity with front-end technologies (e.g., Angular, HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred:
- Understanding of Python for transformation routines.
Must Haves
- Java SE (17+): Expert – Deep expertise in core Java (Collections, Generics, Concurrency), Lambdas, Streams, Optional, functional programming, Exception handling, profiling, maintainability; minimum 8+ years hands‑on Java development.
- Spring Framework & Spring Boot: Expert – Build and architect REST APIs using Spring MVC Controllers; extend/maintain Service layer with complex business logic; implement Repository patterns (JPA/CRUD); create and manage Entities with JPA annotations; develop custom Validators and validation strategies; configure and use RestTemplate/WebClient; apply AOP for cross-cutting concerns; advanced Spring configuration (profiles, properties, externalized config); strong understanding of Spring ecosystem and best practices.
- Spring Security & JWT: Expert – Design and implement comprehensive authentication/authorization; configure JWT token generation, validation, and refresh strategies; implement role-based and permission-based access control; secure REST endpoints and handle security contexts; integrate with OAuth2, LDAP, or SSO; security best practices and vulnerability prevention.
Nice to Haves
- Hibernate: Intermediate – Write and optimize HQL/JPQL queries; configure entity relationships and mappings; handle transactions and lazy loading; performance tuning.
- Spring Batch: Intermediate – Maintain batch job workflows; configure readers, processors, and writers; job scheduling and monitoring.
- Jenkins: Intermediate – Create and maintain Jenkins pipelines; configure build jobs, triggers, and webhooks; Jenkins administration basics; troubleshoot build failures.
- Azure DevOps (ADO): Intermediate – Work with Azure Pipelines (YAML/Classic); manage Azure Repos, Boards, and Artifacts; configure build and release pipelines; migrate Jenkins Freestyle jobs to ADO.
- Angular: Basic to Intermediate – Understand Angular component architecture; collaborate effectively with UI team; debug UI/API integration issues; basic TypeScript knowledge.
- TypeScript: Basic to Intermediate – Read and understand TypeScript code; debug type-related issues; support UI team with API contracts.
- UI/UX Principles: Basic Awareness – Understand user-centered design; collaborate with UI team on API design; consider front-end implications in API design.
- MSSQL Database: Intermediate – Write T-SQL queries and stored procedures; understand indexing and query optimization; work with MSSQL-specific features; basic database administration.
