Build AI is hiring generalist software engineers who can work across the company in person in San Francisco. This role will jump between data pipelines, hardware integration scripts, internal tools, and customer-facing APIs as needed.

A bias toward action and the ability to operate with limited information will be essential in a fast-moving startup setting. You will ship across backend services, data pipelines, and developer tooling while collaborating with research and hardware teams to deliver

Qualifications

• Strong full-stack skills with Python and one of TS/React/Go/C++.
• 1–5+ years shipping software end to end in startup environments.
• You ramp quickly in unfamiliar codebases and problem domains.
• Bias toward action and comfort with incomplete information.
• Experience shipping where the role was not clearly defined.

Responsibilities

• Detect high-leverage gaps and ship production-quality code.
• Build backend services and APIs for the data platform.
• Write pipelines for incoming datasets.
• Script integrations between devices, cloud, and services.
• Design interfaces and developer workflows used across the company.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with research, hardware, and ops.
