Job summary

Thinking Machines is hiring a Full Stack Engineer in San Francisco, CA to conceive, build, and ship AI-powered products from the ground up. You’ll own both the technical direction and the product experience, working across backend services, APIs, and production-quality frontend interfaces with researchers and designers.

We value engineers energized by ambiguity, who can own architecture decisions, and help shape engineering standards as the team grows, moving ideas from prototype to real user

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience across frontend and backend.
• Track record shipping production web applications end to end.
• Comfort in ambiguous, fast-changing environments.
• Ability to make pragmatic technical tradeoffs to move quickly.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship full stack features across web applications.
• Prototype with new model capabilities and turn research into product experiences.
• Take ideas from rough concept to live surfaces for users to try.
• Partner with researchers to translate model capabilities into decisions.
• Collaborate with design and product to define what to build.
• Own the technical architecture, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Help set engineering practices and standards for a growing team.
