Summary
As a member of the Technology Services Team, the Software Engineer, Senior will participate in the design and development of sophisticated data management systems, data science driven analytics, algorithmic trade platforms, and customer-facing web/mobile products. This person will implement these processes, set up related AWS infrastructure, and maintain smooth operations by monitoring and troubleshooting processes in coordination with onsite and offshore teammates.

Duties And Responsibilities

1. Design and develop systems including operational requirements and infrastructure setup in an Agile software development paradigm.
2. Quickly learn new technologies and produce proof of concepts, especially using AWS, Big Data, and Open-Source technologies.
3. Work on high-priority production support issues, troubleshoot, and formulate solutions promptly.
4. Develop processes to make operations more manageable and robust, including code refactoring and performance tuning.
5. Analyze existing systems and create technical documentation.

Qualifications & Requirements

1. 5+ years of solid hands-on software development experience, including system installation and production support.
2. Deep knowledge of AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, CloudFormation, etc.) with hands-on experience in architecting cloud solutions.
3. Strong experience in Python, React JS, Java, SQL, AWS Redshift, PostgreSQL, focusing on back-end and middle-tier development.
4. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes/ECS/EKS). AWS Developer Certification is strongly preferred.
5. Hands-on experience with AWS EMR, AWS Glue, Spark/Scala, Airflow, Time series databases, Data Lakes, AWS Spectrum, and Elastic Search.
6. Understanding of cloud security best practices, data protection, and compliance requirements.
7. Ability to quickly learn and implement new technology stacks.
8. Ability to rapidly resolve issues with minimal guidance.
9. Prior experience in the financial industry or quantitative technical analysis is a plus.

Working Conditions

Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Must be able to sit for extended periods (66%+ each workday), hear the telephone, enter data on a computer, and lift up to 10 pounds if necessary.
