Full Stack Engineer

Full-Time | Remote | US-Based Company | South America Candidates Targeted

Comcate is seeking a Full Stack Engineer with a passion for AI-assisted development. We are a mission-driven SaaS company helping local governments modernize how they serve their communities. If you want to work with purpose and take ownership of real technical challenges, this role is for you.

About Us

Founded in 2000, Comcate builds cloud-based software used by thousands of public sector employees across the U.S. We operate two live applications: a legacy system built in PHP and a modern, AI-accelerated platform built with Node.js, TypeScript, and React, hosted on AWS GovCloud.

We are a remote-first team, with members across the U.S. and Latin America.

Responsibilities

Full-Stack Development

• Design, develop, and maintain applications using Node.js, TypeScript, and React
• Implement and optimize APIs and front-end interfaces
• Contribute to the architecture and design of both new and existing systems
  
  

AI-Enabled Development

• Use tools like Cursor, Copilot, and Windsurf for coding, testing, and architecture
• Champion and experiment with AI-driven workflows to increase team efficiency
  
  

Infrastructure as Code & DevOps

• Provision and manage infrastructure using Terraform (or similar tools)
• Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
• Support production and non-production environments in AWS (Commercial and GovCloud)
  
  

Testing & Quality Assurance

• Write and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests
• Apply best practices to ensure code reliability and quality
  
  

Monitoring & Observability

• Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging with Datadog or similar tools
• Troubleshoot and resolve performance or reliability issues
  
  

Product Thinking

• Work closely with product managers and designers to deliver user-centric features
• Participate in product planning and contribute technical insights
  
  

Ownership & Autonomy

• Take full ownership of projects from concept through release
• Tackle complex technical problems and drive solutions independently
  
  

Startup Environment

• Work in a fast-moving environment with evolving priorities
• Continuously evaluate and adopt new technologies
  
  

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of full-stack development experience
• Strong experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and React (or similar frameworks)
• Hands-on experience with AI coding tools such as Cursor or Copilot
• Proficient with Terraform or similar infrastructure as code tools
• Strong grasp of DevOps practices, including CI/CD and cloud deployments
• Experienced in writing and maintaining automated test coverage
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Datadog or New Relic
• Proven ability to work independently and within distributed teams
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, agile, and remote-first environment
• Excellent English communication skills
• Bonus: Experience with GIS or legacy PHP systems
  
  

Location & Work Schedule

• Fully remote role
• Candidates based in South America preferred
• Must be available to work at least 4 hours per day overlapping with US Eastern or Central Time
