Job summary

Plane seeks a senior engineer to own the collaborative editing stack, from the React editor UI through the Node services that persist document state. You will design the offline behavior, the realtime transport, and conflict resolution, ensuring authorship is visible and auditable across the system.

You will work with designers and backend engineers in San Francisco and Hyderabad, and engage with the community in public threads, shipping robust, end-to-end editing features with a strong focus on

Qualifications

• Shipped both React and Node in production with TypeScript.
• Experience with a rich-text editor framework at schema/document model level.
• Built realtime features over WebSockets including reconnection & ordering.
• Implemented offline capabilities using Service Workers/IndexedDB.
• Strong Postgres skills: read query plans, indexing, optimization.

Responsibilities

• Own collaborative editing end to end from React editor surface through Node services.
• Own offline behavior: local queue and reconciliation when connection returns.
• Design realtime transport and conflict resolution and record decisions.
• Build editing surfaces that agents act through with clear authorship/history.
• Collaborate daily with designers and backend engineers across SF and Hyderabad.
• Address data-loss scenarios across networks/browsers/self-hosted versions.
