Job summary

The New York Times is hiring a Full-Stack Software Engineer for the Reflections team to build personalized experiences that make The Times feel uniquely yours. You’ll work with a diverse team including native mobile, web and backend engineers, QA, product managers, designers, and data experts.

Our stack includes React, JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, GraphQL, Go, PostgreSQL and AWS. You will report to the Engineering Manager on the Reflections team, collaborating across disciplines to deliver

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional experience building and delivering user-facing features in a collaborative environment.
• 2+ years of ownership of user-facing features, from implementation through launch with product/design/engineering.
• 2+ years of tackling technical challenges and collaborating cross-functionally to solve problems.
• 2+ years of working with modern JavaScript technologies including React, Node.js, TypeScript, HTML/CSS.
• 2+ years of experience with backend services using Go, Node.js/Express, GraphQL, and cloud platforms (GCP or AWS).
• 2+ years of experience with data persistence technologies, including SQL or databases.
• 2+ years of troubleshooting and resolving production issues.

Responsibilities

• Lead full-stack feature development from design to production for scalable systems.
• Collaborate with design, product, web/backend and native mobile engineers to refine requirements.
• Contribute ideas to shape product directions and take on meaningful work.
• Develop full-stack solutions across the technology stack.
• Provide production support via on-call rotations.
