Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a full-stack engineer to define and build a new class of learning experiences. You’ll own the technical vision for how people learn to use AI, safely and effectively, with broad product ownership from prototype to launch.

You’ll lead end-to-end product experiences across frontend, backend, and telemetry, coordinating with education, design, and engineering teams to ship impactful learning tools at scale.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience leading and delivering high-quality user-facing products at staff level.
• Strong full-stack skills with TypeScript/React, backend APIs, and databases.
• Experience in 0-to-1 or fast-moving product environments.
• Strong user empathy and a high bar for reliability, accessibility, safety, and performance.
• Experience collaborating across engineering, research, product, design, data, operations, and customer-facing teams.
• Ability to use qualitative feedback and product data to identify friction and prioritize work.

Responsibilities

• Own the vision and execution for OpenAI’s native learning offering.
• Build and launch end-to-end product experiences that help users build AI skills through real work, starting in ChatGPT.
• Design core systems behind those experiences, including learner state, progress, and re-entry.
• Create reusable components and internal tools for partners to develop and improve learning experiences.
• Build clear entry points, hands-on practice, feedback, telemetry, and evaluation with data-driven iterations.
• Collaborate with education, engineering, design, data, and operations to align with enterprise needs.
• Turn goals into requirements, prototypes, milestones, reusable UI patterns, and product metrics.
• Define learner intent for each release and evaluate quality, learning outcomes, and adoption.
