Job summary

Block, Inc. in San Francisco seeks a Legal Systems Architect to lead the design of scalable legal tech, blending software engineering, architecture, and legal domain expertise to leverage automation, data, and AI.

You will work across ELM, eDiscovery, CLM, and AI platforms to connect systems, improve workflows, and empower Legal to deploy AI-powered processes responsibly. The role demands ownership, deep technical chops, and the ability to translate strategic needs into practical, scalable

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years in software engineering, systems engineering, or architecture roles.
• Experience integrating SaaS platforms and APIs.
• Ability to operate autonomously in ambiguous environments.
• Strong eDiscovery experience (EDRM lifecycle).
• Understanding of legal workflows (contracts, billing, discovery).
• Experience with data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake).

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve scalable, cohesive legal system architecture.
• Drive opportunities to automate and integrate legal workflows using AI.
• Strategize and solve complex legal/operational challenges.
• Lead design and implementation of AI-enabled solutions (Claude/LLM platforms).
• Translate experiments into scalable, production-ready AI patterns and guardrails.
• Build and oversee integrations with DocuSign CLM, Brightflag, Tonkean, AODocs.
• Develop APIs, automations, and data pipelines connecting systems.
• Leverage Databricks/Snowflake for analytics and AI workflows.
• Provide technical leadership for eDiscovery and Information Governance.
• Hands-on technical lead guiding long-term evolution.
• Balance innovation with risk in legal tech adoption.
• Adapt to shifting priorities while preserving architecture.
