Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer to design and develop core platform services for secure satellite ground communications in the United States. You will build multi‑tenant backend services on AWS, design APIs, and create UI components for reliable, scalable systems.

You will work with MBSE and Test teams to ensure alignment with requirements, translate business needs into technical specs, and help advance mission-critical software with robust testing, security, and zero-trust

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field with 10+ years of experience; or Bachelor’s with 8+ years; or Master’s with 6+ years; or Doctoral with 3+ years; +4 years may be substituted for degree
• Must have minimum Secret clearance and maintain it
• Proficiency in Python development for backend systems and APIs
• Experience with relational databases: SQL, triggers, functions, stored procedures
• Experience implementing authentication/authorization: RBAC/ABAC
• Experience with microservice development and backend architectures
• Proficiency in TypeScript for frontend/backend development
• Frontend development with Vite and modern web tooling
• Git-based source control and structured code reviews
• Experience investigating production issues and applying fixes
• Unit/integration testing and automated test workflows
• Knowledge of PKI and asynchronous messaging
• Experience with PostgreSQL, OAuth 2.0, JWT, Git, GitHub, CI/CD, Kafka, Unix shell scripting
• Experience applying Zero Trust software development principles
• Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm for containerized deployment
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP

Responsibilities

• Build multi-tenant backend services on public cloud platforms such as AWS
• Architect, develop, and consume APIs and backend services with emphasis on automation, security, testing, and maintainability
• Create software system designs from business requirements and translate into technical specifications
• Present technical designs and recommendations to engineering teams and stakeholders
• Work with MBSE and Test teams to align requirements, models, and implementation
• Develop backend services using Python, including APIs, automation logic, and platform-level components
• Design UI and implement reusable front-end components for maintainable functionality
• Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms
• Develop microservices and service-to-service communication patterns
• Investigate and resolve production issues using structured diagnostics
• Support customer and partner integration during deployment
• Solve complex challenges in secure, scalable satellite communications infrastructure
