Job summary

HireHi, a remote-first energy tech company, seeks an experienced Backend/Full-Stack Engineer to own architecture decisions for integration-heavy systems. You will turn ambiguous problems into shippable plans and deliver critical backend components in Python on AWS, with React/TypeScript where needed.

You will collaborate across Rosso, Data, and Billing teams, ship hardest features, mentor engineers, and help launch a new product category while building scalable pricing and risk tooling.

Its AI-native technology automates complex market flows and supports the buying, selling, and pricing of electricity; its RED utility product has facilitated thousands of business customers and billions in energy transaction value.

• Own architecture-level decisions for integration-heavy systems, reasoning about boundaries, contracts, and failure modes
• Turn undefined, commercially driven problems into shippable plans within the direction set by the squad lead
• Deliver integrations across dependencies owned by other teams, including Rosso, Data, and Billing
• Design, build, and ship the hardest parts of new-product development, primarily on the backend and in React/TypeScript when needed
• Write clean, well-tested code, contribute to code reviews, and improve team practices and documentation
• Help launch the first new product category and generate qualified pipeline within 6 months
• Help automate tendering to increase the volume the team can quote
• Help productise a manual, error-prone pricing process
• Design deal-gating risk tooling for new commercial risk categories

• Deep backend and systems-design expertise, with experience owning architecture-level decisions on complex, integration-heavy systems
• Comfortable with Python, AWS serverless (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, EventBridge), and event-driven architectures
• Able to work without a full specification and turn an ambiguous problem into a shippable plan
• Experience delivering work where a critical dependency is owned by a team outside the candidate's authority
• Product-delivery experience as a Full Stack or Backend Engineer in a startup or fast-paced product environment, owning complex projects from start to finish
